Audio Systems: Radio Not Working, taurus wagon, electronic specialist

Question
Thanks for getting back to me, I've been on vacation. I'm clue-less about this all, but the specialist mentioned processor and amplifier in the same breath and the part is located in the rear left by speaker, if that helps.  The dealer is now offering to replace wiring harness, again, and they will cover 90% of cost. Don't know if I should stick with electronic specialist or just have dealer screw things up again.  The specialist wants another crack at it, since he only had the car a short time and thought it was a quick fix.  He's a friend of my mechanic.  Thanks again

Vin

radio completley stopped working on 2001 Taurus wagon.  Dealer replaced wiring harness, worked for 1 year, now stopped again. Took it to electrical shop and they put new processor in, evrything reads fine, but radio just does not work.  Any suggestions?

Vin,

sorry it has been a few days i never got an email from allexperts.. but anyway to get to the point, i dont know what you mean by processor? maybe its a differnt term than i'm used to , since you have had problems with the entire wiring system here is what i would do if it was my car, which you have 2 options one which i recommend is buying an aftermarket head unit and bypass all of the factory wiring, which means running new 12v + and grounds and running all new speaker wires to each speaker the only wire you should reuse is the 12volt ignition turn on wire.. now the other option you have is stop by radio shack and have them order you an exact replacement for your stock harness plug * you can use the original if you want just cut it off and give yourself room to wire back in*  you will also need the wire diagram which you can get here www.streetdreams.com/wires you can then bypass again all of your factory wires and run new except the 12ignition wire but this time instead of using the aftermarkets harness to wire from you will use your old or new original plug this is so you can use your factory head unit... i hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks

Answer
Vin,

no problem , you have a pretty difficult problem to sort out ... rather than put it back in the hands of the dealership i would let your auto electric tech handle it , just let him take his time and try to place where the problem is and what needs to be done to fix it up .. but if you need anything else let me know

thanks
