Audio Systems: radio removal, liabary, climate control

i have a 1997 ford escort and am trying to remove the radio. i can get everything but the climate control to undo. can you tell me how to get it off without breaking it, thanks.

 all the books i have are GM but i can give you some helpful info .. first check your local liabary for a haynes repair manual for your specific car most of the time they have a good selection available .. if they dont have one you can buy one from your local parts store for 10-15 bucks this is the best way to get exact information with pictures and step by steps on just about anything related to your make and model of car .. now your other is to call this number 1800-621-3695 ext3 this is the tech line for Scosche the makers of wire harness adapters and dash install kits .. give them a call tell them you lost your instruction booklet for your dash kit and you cant get your factory unit out they will ask for your make and model and they can give you exact info .. also you can get the exact info if you buy a dash install kit which is a must in most all cases for an aftermarket install .. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know
