Audio Systems: amp troubles, test light, power cable

Question
Hey Cody

I have a problem with my clarion amplifier i have used this amp in the past to power a 10" clarion sub. Anyway my friend and i are not new to the install scene but were no where near pros, i have ran into a problem with the amo turning on. We have installed all the wires such as the remote the power rca's everythinng is installed properly. We thought it might have been ground but turns out it wasent because we tested it on all types of surfaces. I am almost positive the amp works because it was just working 2 months ago and all the wires are new. If you could help me out that would be great

Answer
Chris,

well dont be to sure an amp can go bad overnight its happened to me and many others .. get a test light and probe your power to make sure your getting juice then reverse the light and probe for ground it will light up and let you know .. now test the amp run a small bridge wire from your hot 12v power cable to the RMS/turn on wire that kicks the amp on .. if it fires up and works then its in your turn on wire .. if it doesnt recheck all your power and grounds and fuses and try again still if nothing i would say its time to ditch the amp and get a new replacement , if your stuck on keeping the amp you might give clarion a call to see if they shed any light on it .. hope this helps you out if you need anything else just let me know

thanks
