Question
Hi again Kevin

Ok Everything was done according to your instructions (and a few from the guys at Best Buy)
The only problems we have now are the surround sound will NOT work with DVD or VCR
it IS working with the TV, and when we use the DVD and or VCR the sound only comes out of the TV... but as I said not out of the speakers from the surround sound, the pictures are ALL perfect, Tv pics VCR and DVD pics are great.......... any more ideas?

Answer
Dear Nina,

Well, I have no idea what the guys at Best Buy told you to do, but it's obviously not working--right? (I've spent more than a few hours with friends undoing what they've been told to do by Best Buy...)

If you've routed the DVD player's audio output to the receiver and the video output to the TV, there's no way the DVD's audio can came out through the TV. It's that simple. Since the satellite cable is routed through the VCR, the VCR's sound *should* come out through the TV. However, that's why you also route the VCR's audio output to the VCR.

I suggest that you undo everything and put it all back together using only my instructions. Then tell me what happens. Make sure that you select the proper audio output when you play a DVD or want to hear the VCR's audio through the receiver's speakers.

Kindest regards,

Kevin
