Motorcycle Repair: loss of electronic power, gsxr 750, safe bet

Question
I have a 99 gsxr 750. I put a new battery on it recently. I can get about 100 miles of riding out of it and all of the power is gone. It will start and run fine until about 90 to 100 miles. I turn it off and bam try and start it the fuel pump kicks on the lights but not enough power to start. Can you please help me.

Answer
Hi Justin, What you'll need to do is make sure ALL of the wires are plugged into the battery terminals. Sounds like you may have missed a small plug when you installed the new battery. You need to start out by charging the battery to its full capacity to make sure if you try to find the unplugged wires, and succeed, youll be able to start the bike right away to test the output. Once the bike is up and running, at an Idle, you should see about 12-14.5 volts on your meter. If not, then its a safe bet you voltage regulator went bad on you.. Thats what regulated how much voltage the battery gets to recharge it once the bike has started..

Hope this helps!
