Audio Systems: new system in an old truck, sony xplod, watts rms

Question
Dear Cody,
I am rebuilding a '65 gmc truck and need some help with some component selection and also some mounting questions. The components I have are as follows:

                Profile 6.5 inch 2-way (pair)
                Max input - 120 watts
Nom input - 5-40 watts RMS
                Impedence - 4 ohms
                Magnet wt. 12oz

                Radio Shack - 5 1/4 (pair)
                Max - 40 watt
                Nom - 20 watt
                Imp - 8 ohms
                Mag wt. 10oz

                Jensen 6x9 (pair with boxes)
                60 watt continuous
                140 watt peak

I'm not looking for a competition grade system, just a good sounding system that you can hear at 60mph with the windows down. Are all of these pretty good components? Should I throw any of them away? I plan on putting the 6x9s under the seat but I'm still not sure where to put the others. Do they need to be in an enclosed space like the door panel or can I just mount them under the dash? Do I need and amp? an equalizer? What do you reccomend for a tuner/CD player?
thanks
joe
P.S. Any of these questions answered will be appreciated.

Answer
Joseph,

ok i havent never used these brands personally so i'm shady on how they will perform the brand i use is sony xplod and i always try to recommend it but its a matter of personal taste if you have a favorite brand stick to it .. the reason i like sony is they give you a great product for a steal and they out last and usually out perform speakers twice their price .. but enough about the speakers since you have 6 speakers you might want a small amp say 150 watts to power your 6x9's a good head unit with say 52x4 watts such as sony CDX-M630 its 175 bucks from etronics.com ( the place where i order most of my components) and it would give you smooth looks and peformance at a killer price but as long as you follow in that power range for the 5.25's and the 6.5's you will be good .. you shouldnt need an EQ if you go with the above head unit it has a built in 7 band EQ already in there so that can clip the corners on your budget and still get the great sound .. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
