Audi Repair: Audi tt 1.8 2000, low oil pressure, belt tensioners

Hi! i have an audi tt 2 day ago a mecanic changed the timming belt an the tensor since then it make a sound like lifters or mabe valves my car is 69000 miles it makes no smoke and the performance is normal. the sound can be heard when it is at 2000rpm one the rpm is normal it doesent sound. when i accelerate the car more than 200orpm no sound it makes. what could it be?

Hi Jose,

The problem you describe could be a few things actually,

first make sure that every thing was returned back properly and is tight, a lose bracket or dust cover can cause the sound.
then move onto the fan belt tensioners and timing belt tensioner, again make sure that they are tight and fitted properly.

if no faults have been found then move onto the engine itself. low oil pressure can cause the tappets to become noisy, so check the oil level first, if the sound is still there then try flushing the engine,maybe there is an oil channel that is blocked. try getting the oil pressure measured if possible, to rule out a faulty oil pump or pressure valve.
