Audi Repair: cars, warning light, actuator

Question
could it be a low battery that causes my hood not to close

Answer
Hi Christine,

First off what kind of vehicle do you have?? but as a general rule the hood mechanism is fully mechanical, so I doubt that the battery can cause it not to close. the only electrical parts on it are the switch for the warning light and the actuator to release the lock.

The most likely causes are obstruction in the lock it self, a faulty/worn out lock or incorrectely adjusted lock. try lubricating it with WD-40, sometimes rust and dust causes the lock to jam and the mechanism doesnt travel all the way to the lock position.

Was the vehicle involved in a front collision by any chance?? some times  when repairs are not carried out properly the lock and catcher do not mate properly and then you have problems usually after sometime.
