QUESTION: Hi
Thanks in anticipation. The window won't power down and there's a grinding noise from the door when I activate the switch.I'd like to remove the panel.chewing gum might have gone down into the door at some stage on the outside when the window was lowered. Any advice much appreciated . Tony

ANSWER: Sounds like a gear has stripped, or the wire is broken.  You will have to get into the door to establish what the problem is.  No easy way to fix this one, I'm afraid...  Jan

Ah well, this can be tricky.  Not sure of the TDi, we don't have many over here in the US.  The key is to find the hidden screws, normally there are two holding the arm rest firmly on the door, and there are fasteners under the door opening latch.  I have not had to take one off on a late model so perhaps this is a good question for the forums.  Otherwise your local audio installation shop may be able to help you out, they remove these things all the time.
