Audi Repair: 2001 a4 auto, coolant temperature sensor, engine coolant temperature sensor

Question
car will start normally in the morning and run normally until i stop and switch car off then it wont start at all,its as if the car thinks its in gear nor in park.had it checked and fault codes p1119 and p1315 show.mechanic seems to think its the ecu £1200 !!! can you help

Answer
I think the second code is not the right number, p1119 is an O2 sensor which means the car will run too rich and fuel consumption will be high.  p1315 does not come up with anything.  I think it also may be time to change your mechanic; unless positive testing comes up with a bad ECU you cannot just assume it's bad.  Most people always assume the problem is in the most complex part, however most of the time the issue is a loose connection or a broken wire.  Check the ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) sensor, since the problme is temperature related go for the obvious first...  Let me know,  Jan
