Audi Repair: sunroof stuck open, sun roof, misaligned

We like dummies decided to use the hex key to see if we could open the sun roof up on our 1999 passat and guess what yipee it worked! however now we can't get it to close. When we crank the hex key it sounds like it is stripped. Is that possible after only using it once? If so how do we get at the gear to manually close it? This is Chicago and we got a long way to go before spring/ Thanks in advance!

Woah, Chicago in February, that was a daring test...  I'm in Columbus Ohio and haven't used the sunroof since October.  Anyway, it sounds like something has stripped or is jumping off the track.  You can try moving the sunroof while someone else pulls the roof itself to see if you can get it back on track, but it sounds like something is either jammed or misaligned.  What happened to the power?  Perhaps a fuse is bad and you can shut it with the power control??  Let me know,  Jan
