Audi Repair: audi cabriolet roof compartment stuck, audi cabriolet, torx screws

Hi, I have a problem with the roof compartment of audi cabriolet 1997 not opening. It pops up, but then it's like stuck. it sounds like the motor is trying to lift  it but nothing happen. I am selling the car and I would have to pay for a mechanic. But I am a girl, i have not idea what to do. Is there a fluid I should top up? do you have any suggestions.. thank you so much

The roof hydraulic pump has a reservoir which is made of plastic that typically cracks, and fluid leaks out.  The pump is located in the right side of the trunk behind the panel.  Take the spare wheel out and check for oil underneath the wheel.  If there is oil there, then the reservoir is cracked.  The reservoir cup is held on with 4 torx screws, and can be replaced @ $100 or so, and his can then be refilled which should fix your problem.  If you have the reservoir it is a 1hr job.
