Audi Repair: fuel filter noise, fuel filter, fuel pump

Question
I have a 2003 A4 quattro 1.8 with a fuel fitler noise. It does not happen when the temp is above 50 degrees. Why is this temperature sensitive and how can the filter make noise? THANKS.

Answer
hello
it's basically clogging up. Why it does it when cold , I do not know.  Replace it ASAP - it will kill the pump one day.
If you live in US, go to the dealer and check for open recalls . There was a recall on 2003 A4 and A6  - to replace fuel pump and/or filter if it's making noise.
good luck           Greg
