Audi Repair: 1999 Audi A4 Quattro Clunking Front End, loose joints, tierod

I have been experiencing clunking in the front end as I proceed from a stop.  It does not appear to be shifting funny, but it does this when under load.  Could this be the transfer case for the AWD?  It started out minor and has gotten worse and just today the check engine light came on.  I obviously need to take it in, and I will soon, but I was wondering if you have heard of anything like this?

hello
noise, may be from suspension not engine. I have seen many loose upper arm or tierod ends.  So make sure someone will check for any loose joints.
