Question
Dear Donald:
I have a Jeep GCh 2001 6 Cyl engine. Few weeks ago it started to suddenly light on the ABS and Brake signals
on the control panel. The speedometer also goes to zero
and the odometer stops working. When I turn off the engine and start it again the problem disappears but it could appear again, the same day or a week later. Nobody can give me a reason for the failure. Could you please help me to figure out what is happening?

Answer
Gustovo, the first thing you need to do is have the system scanned with a DRB 3 scan tool. This tool can communicate directly with the ABS module on the Jeep allowing the user to check for codes and run tests on the system. The DRB 3 should also be used to check other modules for trouble codes and test the network for communication problems. As you have indicated their are issues with the speedometer, this might be the root cause of the warning lights. The factory scan tool offers the best chance to diagnose the problem quickly and accurately. If a no local shop offers this service, take it to a dealer in your area to have it scanned. Hope this helps you. Don.
