Auto Insurance Claims: Miscellanious Accident Expenses, auto insurance companies, internal practices

Question
I was recently rear ended while driving my son's pickup.  My daughter who was in a similar accident, passenger in another vehicle, was told by her lawyer that her insurance company, again not directly related to the accident, would pay up to $4000 in miscellaneous expenses without increasing her insurance rate.  This was the case.  The lawyer told her that many auto insurance companies have a similar policy but do not necessarily make it public knowledge.  Is this the case?  By the way my insurance is with Allstate.

Your time and consideration in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Cecil,

I have never heard of this. What each company will do or not do is determined by the specific wording of their policy as well as the individual company's internal practices. The only way for you to know for sure would be to read your policy or call the company directly and ask them the question.

I hope this helps
