Auto Electronics: Windows, wipers wont work!, honda civic del sol, civic del sol

Question
Donald,

I have a 1994 Honda Civic del Sol that was running fine until we got about 8 inches of rain in the last three days.  I have never had this problem before, and the car's been through a few hurricanes here in sunny Florida...

Anyway, I drove home in the rain on Wednesday night - everything was fine.  Thursday morning, when I turned the key, the windshield wipers started wiping and wouldn't turn off with the switch.  It took me a minute to figure out that the windows wouldn't go down either.  I pulled the fuse for the wipers, and noticed that there is a separate fuse for each of the three windows (FR,FL, and Rear).  Any ideas as to what electrical something the wipers and the window controls have in common?

Many thanks!

Answer
Christina, The wiper switch, integrated control unit, power window control unit and the power window relay all share a ground. It is referred to as G401 and is located in the left kick panel area. Make sure the connection is clean, tight and free of corrosion. If that doesn't fix the problem it could be any number of things. Be sure to look for water intrusion under the dash from a leaking windshield. Good luck. Don.
