Auto Electronics: hyundai wont start, dashboard lights, fuse box

Question
I'm having problems with my Hyundai, out of the blue it just won't start.  When I turn the key to on position the dashboard lights, radio, bells, etc., don't work but will come on very slowly after a few seconds to normal.  If I turn on lights or use door locks, they all dim again immediately.  If I turn key to start I can hear a faint click but only when the dashboard lights, etc., are bright; I hear nothing otherwise.  What could be causing this?

Answer
Seja, sounds like a dead battery or one that's on the way out. Could be bad wiring or connections as well. The battery is the first place to check, make sure the connections are clean and tight then have someone load test the battery. Visually inspect the main positive and negative cables from the battery to the distribution center (main underhood fuse box) and body ground connections. Good luck. Don.
