Question
What could be wrong we replaced the cadillac converter 15 miles down the road the muffler blew, went back got another muffler it blew. I then gave up and drove it from Kentucky to texas with no problem except noise. Put another muffler on it it blew about 300 miles later. What could it be?

Answer
Hello,

Why was the cat replaced in the first place? We need to look at the situation before you replaced the cat. Before putting the cat on you had no muffler problems correct?
For some reason back pressure in the exhaust changed, since you installed the cat.
Was the cat replaced because of lack of power or something else?
It sounds like there is a problem with the cat. Either defective, inferior not meeting factory specs, or the wrong catalytic converter.
I have run into problems using cheap aftermarket units and I realize the factory cats are very expensive, and to save money, we tend to go the aftermarket route. In man cases this is not a problem because I saved thousands on my Mercedes. Depending on the manufacturer and quality control is the difference between being problematic.
Let me know why the cat was replaced, and what you replaced the factory cat with.
