Cadillac Repair: 1991 Cadillac Deville Error Code E21, throttle position sensor, tps sensor

Question
QUESTION: Where would I find this on my car i have no idea how to fix this problem in my
Cadillac i have been researching and reading for days.

ANSWER: Hello Dave,

I do not know what the code stands for in a 20 year old vehicle, however if you want to diagnose that and anything else about the car, I suggest you go to http://www.alldata.com.

Pay the $25 membership fee and then find your year make model and dowload. You can have access to the info for a
year.

Here you have every piece of unedited information the dealer had to repair your car.

It is awesome and very detailed. I don't get a dime for plugging this site.

It is however the place I go to diagnose a problem or bypass a transponder system.

QUESTION: E21 means throttle position scensor shortage. I have a shortage
somewhere but I have no idea where?

Answer
Hello,

I gave you the site as to where to get the information for you to diagnose the problem.
There are flow charts to follow to find the problem.
As I said before, I don't just like many techs out there have any manuals or schematics for a 20 year old car. You are about 15 years too late.

Back then, all the information was in big manuals that took up a huge amount of space and you need to realize, we didn't only work on Cadillacs, but every make and model.

it is much simpler these days to go to sites like all data that stores this information for a download.

There is no such term of "shortage" in the automotive field. I assume what you mean is that the circuit power supply is grounded out.

It appears you are looking for a simple answer for you throttle position sensor problem and there is not a simple answer. You are only giving a symptom with the code.

You could have a bad ecm (computer), grounded wiring to the tps, a bad tps sensor or a problem with something else tied to the circuit.

Without the proper diagnostic charts, you are trying to fix this car on a guess which could be very costly.

As I said, I have no financial intrest with alldata. I just recommended the site because it would be where I would go.

I do not get paid for my answers helping people and I sure as heck would not pay to download information for someone's vehicle. Even at that, one needs to be at the car going through each step.

You have 2 options: you can send the car to a service center for repair or you can join alldata and get the information you need.

Good luck
