Chevrolet Repair: Blower motor resistor location, blower motor resistor, resistor pack

Question
I have a 89 S10 which has the lower speeds not working.  I know it is the resistor, but am unable to find it.  Used a repair manual and it only had a wiring diagram.  Where is the resistor?

Thanks

Answer
Hello Dave,
I will tell you where the resistor pack is in the full size pickup of that year.
You open and remove the glove compartment, and it is mounted on the top of the blower housing, behind the glove compartment.
The resistors are actually inside the housing, but the connector is on top of the housing, and just looks like it is sitting on top. Remove the two little screws on the ends, and it pulls up out.
That is on the pickup. I believe yours will be the same.

Now, on a 94 or so and newer S10 model, the resistors are accessed from under the hood.
Also located on the blower housing, but some had screws, and could be removed that way, but 94 Blazer, although in the same place, required a small area around the resistor pack to be melted with a soldering iron/plastic cutter for removal, and plastic soldered back in.
I would make a little adapter probably to remount it, but the soldering gun plastic cutter/smoother is easy to use.
The location is right near the firewall, by the transmission dipstick.
