Cadillac Repair: Catalyic Converter, extreme cold weather, cadillac sts

Question
I have a 92 Cadillac STS Seville and I live in extreme cold weather. A couple of days ago while driving My car it would surge then die. I had to Jump it a few times to get home and none of the lights wanted to come on. Then I had someone else drive the car with me following and Noticed that under the car it was glowing bright like it was on fire and I smelled hot metal but I didn't see any flames. What do I need to fix it?

Answer
Hello Kalai,

Obviously I am not there looking at the car and I am only left with your description.

It sounds like a problem with the catalytic converter. This could be caused by a bad cat or a secondary problem from the way the vehicle is running.

You need to have the vehicle looked at by a service garage.

If the cat gets hot enough, there is the possiblity that the carpet could ignite and you who could have a opassenger compartment fire.
