Question
QUESTION: I have a 1990 Cadillac Fleetwood 4.5 liter that has 40,000 miles on it.The car is in excellent condition but recently developed an engine running problem. The car runs rough with poor idle quality. The car runs rich and causes the catallic convertor to become cherry red. I have replaced the Map sensor and the fuel fouled spark plugs. I have a code of F32 which is an communication problem between the ECM and BCM. I have cleared the codes but the F32 keeps coming back. Any ideas?

QUESTION: Can you give some additional information as to why the ECM and the BCM computers both need to be replaced? Was this a factory problem or defect since the car only has 40,000 miles on it? Thanks.

Answer
Because the ECM and BCM have lost their ability to talk to each other via the communications line . When the communications line goes down it effects both computer chips that are soldered on the circuit boards and BOTH computers must be replaced as there is no way to determine which computer is at fault without specialized electronic equipment which only the manufacturer of the computers has. It cannot be done in the field.

Just replace BOTH computers and resolve your problem.
