Cadillac Repair: 1997 Seville CD Player installed keeps loosing memory, boss radio, cigarette lighter

Question
QUESTION: I Have had the factory boss radio taken out and installed a Clarion CD Player.  One problem is when the car is turned off after about 5-10 minutes from locking it the CD player looses it's Memory, I'm guessing there is a power shut down by the cars factory alarm.  Time on radio resets and all stations set reset as well.  where do i need to connect the radio power/memory to so it don't loose settings??

ANSWER: I would need you to E-mail a copy of the wiring directives for your new radio to: onlineautohelp@msn.com

QUESTION: I looked at the diagram and it says to hook the memory cable (Yellow) directly to battery, i think the installer hooked it up to the cigarette lighter but that obviously doesn't work, would i need to run a cable directly to the battery or is there another power source within the cabin that does not get shut off by the alarm?

ANSWER: The cig lighter has battery power at all times which should work just fine.

However, He may have accidentally attached this yellow wire to the 16 volt wire, that is used by the original radio and blew the memory chip, Then seeing his error, Disconnected it and attached it to the cig lighter and or the radio may be faulty.

QUESTION: Just a thought but if the memory chip is toast then wouldn't the radio not be able to keep any memory at all?  It's only when the Alarm kicks in usually after 5-10 minutes from locking the car that the radio looses all settings.
