Cadillac Repair: 1991 Brougham Problems, jumper cables, odometer reading

the car won't hold a charge i put an altinator in the car and it still wont hold a charge. there is no odometer reading.  And the drivers seat doesn't work, it worked once while i had jumper cables on it but wont work again. the batttery is fine and the interior light will work sometimes but not other times.  The car will stay running once i give it A jump but when i shut it off 3 min. later it wont start back up. SOMEONE PLEASE THROW ME SOME ASSISTANCE OR AT LEAST AN EDUCATED GUESS.  I HOPE SOME HAS HEARD OF ALL THESE PROBLEMS BEFORE. I STILL LOVE CADILLACS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first thing I would suspect is that you have internal corrosion in the battery cable ends that connect to the battery. Replace them.

Are you POSITIVE that your battery is fully charged ?. When you purchase a new one, They are only partially charged and need to be fully charged via a battery charger on SLOW charge for several hours.

The interior light could be caused by a fault in the drivers door button. Try opening the passengers side and see if it comes ON.

If it does NOT, You may have a faulty ILLIMINTED ENTRY TIMER.
