QuestionQUESTION: Following the installation of a new intake manifold gasket, timing gear/chain set, and new spark coil all performed at a Cadillac dealer-- my digal climate controls and fuel data read-out has gone CRAZY. The Cadillac tech replace the ecm, checked the wires, and it's still going nuts. Now he has ordered a new programer... is it possible that the ignition coil they replaced is defective... would it cause this problem? It's the only electrical they replaced.

QUESTION: The electronic climate control scrolls through lo, hi, auto, defrost... the cabin temp setting scrolls as well... although you can very briefly interrupt the scrolling, it simply picks up and continues... Also fuel data numbers scroll randomly. Tech checked ground, changed out the programmer and ecm.
AnswerThese components are controlled by the BCM NOT the ECM. I would suspect that you have a loose ground in the area where he worked in.
