Cadillac Repair: anti-theft/Car wont start, pass key, lock cylinder

Question
Hi,
I went through TONS of great answers last night but I have a twist that may allow you to help me pinpoint my problem... My 1997 Eldorado ETC (32V Northstar V8) wouldn't start yesterday. I got the message; Starter disabled due to theft system, wait three minutes to start. I waited 3 minutes to try to restart and it still did not start. Many 3 minute waits and many attempts. My twist is, if you let it sit though (out of frustration) and try again in a few hours it will repeatedly start up consecutively but only to have it happen again at some point.(disabled/anti theft displaying and won't start) So it's 'sometimes' working fine. My 'other' twist is that I have a remote start attached to the car and that also would not start the car after waiting the three minutes although it is functioning properly (when the car is) and I also 'tried' to use this feature to start the car only to have the same display show. So I'm assuming it's not the key??- And the pass key was never the one to restart the car anyway - the duplicate one was.
Any suggestions on how to correct this problem so my car is reliable again??
Also, I saw how you described to get current and history computer codes to display - How would you do this on this make and year model? Thanks so much in advance! ~Renee

Answer
Your problem is a fault in either the:

ignition key.

Ignition lock cylinder.

wiring from the lock cylinder to the pass-key module.

pass-key module.

There are several pictures and procedures that you need to test the system and fix it. E-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com
