Cadillac Repair: 1981 Cadillac Seville Diesel inaccurate digital fuel gage, cadillac seville, electrical schematics

I have a 1981 Cadillac Seville Diesel and the digital fuel gage has become
inaccurate. Does it need resetting after a battery change? What else could be
wrong, the sending unit in the gas tank? Any ideas?

The sending unit in the tank could be faulty or the gage could be faulty.
