Cadillac Repair: 1999 DeVille Torque Converter Clutch, torque converter clutch, tcc solenoid

Question
QUESTION: Computer code P0741.  No symptons.  Only "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" annunicator.  Would a fluid change, cleaning and any additive work?  After clearing the code, the annunciator comes back on after approximately 50 miles of driving. Could it possibly be a computer sensor error?  Please advise.  Thank you.

ANSWER: You have a fault in the TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SYSTEM (TCC) which is most likely to be the TCC SOLENOID which is located under the side cover of the transmission behind the drivers headlights.

QUESTION: Thanks so much for the quick response.  Follow-up questions:  ie:  99 DeVille Northstar
1.  Is the solenoid change accessible without removing the transmission?
2.  I have been told I would need a complete torque converter overhaul at considerable cost.  Would a solenoid replacement entail the same labor as the overhaul?
Thanks Again.

Answer
All you need to do is remove the old solenoid and test it to be sure it is faulty and replace it with a new one..

You do NOT need a converter overhaul.

Some repair facilities can get the side cover off without removing the transmission, Check around.
