Cadillac Repair: 1998 Cadillac Seville, 1998 cadillac seville, crankshaft sensor

Question
QUESTION: Are there two sensors in or near the distributor on a 1998 Seville?  A mechanic told me that there are two sensors - one approx. 60.00 and the other approx. 100.00.  I believe them to be a crank and cam sensor. Is this correct?  Thanx, Mike

ANSWER: What is the problem with the vehicle ?. Is the check engine light illuminated ?.

If you have the 4.6L engine there is a cam sensor and there is a crankshaft sensor.

It is HIGHLY unlikely that both are faulty. If you need pictures showing there locations and pictures are NOT allowed on this persons website you will need to e-mail:

QUESTION: It runs like it has bad gasoline.  A couple of times, it has completely died on me.  I have changed the filter, and I buy gas in a popular spot.  I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the gas.

Answer
If either sensor was faulty the CHECK ENGINE light would be illuminated.

Check your fuel pressure and fill the gas tank with gas and add a can of DRY GAS or similar product just in case you got a load of water. after you use half of the gas in the fuel tank refill it and add another can of dry gas.
