Cadillac Repair: battery drain sorce, cadillac seville sls, cadillac seville

Question
I have a 98 cadillac seville sls. Battery has drained totally dead over night three days in a row. So assuming it was a bad battery I replaced the battery first mistake,Very expensive. New battery same story. Have tested the parasitic draw on the battery with ignition off an key removed, I have a full 4AMP draw no wonder it was dead. anyway, I was wondering if there Is something that typically has a problem with this model. Tomorrow I plan to run each system to see if I can isolate the circuit with the draw. Looking for a place to start. Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

Answer
Hi Bill,

With a 4 amp draw that sure is alot. The only thing I remember as being a problem was the window module. If memory serves when the vehicle first came out in '98 they were replacing the window modules.

Other than that what I would do is start with the maxi fuses and remove/reinstall them 1 at a time while monitoring the ammeter. Once you find the main fuse then isolating with the smaller fuses to fund the drain hopefully won't be too difficult. Just make sure that the key is out of the ignition and you wait 30 minuets as a power down interval with the doors closed. If you need to open the door or the trunk to access fuses make sure to remove the power fuse for the lights first and then wait until the meter drops again. There is a possibility that a module/computer might not be powering down and having the Tech 2 scan tool to see what modules are "asleep" would be a big help and might be necessary.

If removing all the maxi fuses doesn't help then try the relays next. Also the alternator cam cause a draw if a diode goes bad.
      Good luck. Bill
