Cadillac Repair: 93 Cadillac Eldorado 4.9L V8 Climate control blower, cadillac eldorado, climate control

Question
Hello, I have a 93' Cadillac Eldorado with the 4.9L V8 (not northstar) and the climate control blower will not shutoff, even with the ignition turned off. This made me resort to disconnecting the battery and they removing the plug for the blower to get it to shut off, and still have the car drive-able.

I am thinking it may be the blower module that has gone bad at least that has what my internet research has concluded.

The blower stayed on after I had replaced my battery due to it finally wearing out after 6 years and would not hold a charge strong enough to turn the battery over. This was not happening before we put the new battery in, that is why I am mentioning it.

Do you think this is the problem? Or do you think it may be something else?

Answer
Hi Nate,

It looks like you have gotten the right information. What happens is the blower motor draws/uses too many amps to work and it burns out the powermodule to the point that it allows it to work all the time so at least you have airflow to clear the windshield.

So what you need to do is replace the blower motor and power module. Bill
