Cadillac Repair: damaged fuel line, inch gash, fuel line

Question
hello, I asked the following question and got an excellent answer, but I neglected to mention that the fuel line is on the under-carriage and made of nylon! it has a 1-2 inch hole from dragging the ground, Thanks in advance.

"have a 91 deville,4.9. snow got under the fuel-line, pushed it to the ground, not it has a one inch gash and leaking fuel very badly.  it there 1. away to prevent this in the future, and 2. can this line be repaired by myself without replacing the entire line. lots of snow on the ground, and this will be an outside job?"

Answer
Hi Larry,

Unfortunately, the entire line should be replaced.  The vehicle is at an age where you shouldn't take a chance.

That fuel is under a great deal of pressure with the fuel injection, and is best repaired by replacing it at it's beginnin and end points.

Also, make sure that you are purchasing fuel injection hose.  If you use regular fuel line, it could burst.

Best of luck, and watch those snow piles!
