Cadillac Repair: error messages, cadillac sedan deville, throttle switch

hello i have a 85 cadillac sedan deville and it sputers and doesn't aqccelerate smoothly it jumps and sputers. I took it to  a mechanic but he didn't fix it but he told me hoe to read the error messages using the warmer and the off button and the message keeps on saying E26 what does that mean and the mechanic alos said something about a map sensor what is that?

E26 = shorted throttle switch within the IDLE SPEED CONTROL MOTOR.

When the code E26 appears, Does it also appear as EE26 ?.

Let's CLEAR (erase) this code and see if it returns as E26 or EE26.

Push the off and warmer buttons and after the E256 or EE26 appear you will see .7.0

Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and HI buttons until you see E.0.0 on the display and release the buttons.

Turn ignition OFF and wait 2 minutes and then restart the car and see if the check engine light illuminates. If it does, see what codes appear.
