Cadillac Repair: replacing the tumbler on 1988 deville, auto parts stores, steering wheel

what so I have to do to replace the tumbler, the keybroke off and was having trouble turning the key the car has 250,000 on it.

Answer
You have to pull the steering wheel and with the use of a special tool, Depress the black metal cover plate and remove the "O" ring that is on the steering shaft in order to get to the tumbler assembly.

Check with some auto parts stores for this special tool and if your vehicle has a telescopic steering wheel this requires a different tool than a standard non-telescopic steering wheel.
