Cadillac Repair: 1989 Cadillac Eldorado cooling system, cadillac eldorado, c programmer

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1989 Eldorado.  The car has a brand new a/c compressor in it but there is no cold air coming out.  In the winter time, the air never gets warm.  I'm lucky if the car gets warmer than 50 degrees on a cold Chicago morning.   Can the problem be electrical?  Is this something that might be an easy fix?

ANSWER: The most likely fault is the A/C PROGRAMMER. Select full heat and wait a minute and then select full cold and listen in back of the glove box for a plastic type of clicking sound.

QUESTION: How can I locate the A/C programmer?    Does it require removal of the dashboard?  The reason I ask is that I've always done my own repairs under the hood but never removed a dashboard.

Answer
NO it does NOT require removal of the dash board. Remove the glove box liner and you will see a threaded metal rod attached into a plastic retainer on a plastic connector. Move you controls from FUll heat to FULL AC and listen and watch to see that this rod moves SMOOTHLY and QUIETLY in bothe directions depending upon whether your on AC or HEAT.
