Cadillac Repair: Window regulator and motor, 10mm nuts, gm parts

Question
I have a 2001 Deville.  Can the window regulator and motor from the back door be used in the front door? Both are on the driver side of the car.

Thanks

Answer
Hi Al,

I don't have access to the GM parts catalog for the Deville to look that information up for you. In most cases the motors can interchange on the same side front/back but the regulators are usually a differant size. However when I went to the oreillyautoparts.com website they list a 9 tooth motor and a 32 tooth motor. Also a couple of the motors do interchange but it doesn't appear that in your case that the front and rear motors on the same side will interchange. The RF and LR are the same motor. It really isn't too hard to remove the door panel and the motor so you might give it a try if the motor is bad and see if they are the same. 3 10mm nuts and the motor should come off. If the regulator is bent or broken then I would say that might be a dealer only item and calling them on Monday would answer the question that you have about interchangeability.

Sorry I can't be anymore specific than that. Bill
