Chrysler Repair: Starter in 86 Chrysler Laser 2.2L turbo, chrysler laser, air tube

Question
QUESTION: Finally got the old one out.  Any tricks on getting the new one in.  Its a 2.2L with turbo.  Thanks!

ANSWER: Hi William,
I looked at the '86 manual and only find the need to loosen the clamp and swivel the air tube at the exhaust manifold. That has to be readjusted and reclamped after mounting the motor back in place and rewiring it. Finally reisntall the heat shield and clamp. You basically have to reverse the removal process.

QUESTION: I have the service manual and it makes it seem so easy.  Problem is that you have the Transaxle right in your way.  There is no easy in and out.  I also dont see the air tube that it is talking about.

Answer
Sorry to say I can only go by the manual, not personal experience. Your vehicle may not have an air tube so if you haven't seen it, it isn't there. I'm afraid to say that if you got it out you are the best person to know how to put it back in. There is no discussion of special problems in the manual as you can verify. I wish I could give you some help.

PS You might feel better to realize it could be worse. My son's '91 Jetta with automatic forces you to remove a half shaft to remove the starter!
