Cadillac Repair: 1988 deville, hood latch, safety latch

Question
Hood release broken - cable is still attached to the release lever inside cabin. I pulled on cable with pliers -but nothing happened. I beleive the cable may be broken at the hood latch or the hood latch itself. How can I get the hood up. I have removed grill and safety latch but cannot seem to get to the main hood latch or to the cable. If it helps, 4.5 liter front wheel drive

There isnt really a determined way to do this, if it were me i would remove the grill as you have, and try to pry the hood latch open, if you can try to loosen the screws or bolts holding the hood latch assembly and if you can manouver it from the hood you can open it and replace the cable.
