the codes from the computer 1st came up: e12, e24, e53, e44. I cleared the computer and took it for a drive. 10miles later the service soon light came on with only e44

I own a 1985 Cadillac DeVille 4.1L V8. the problems started when we had to replace the waterpump. After installing new pump the coolant fans wouldnt kick on. took it to the dealer the replaced altinator ground wires, that were fried. the next day the service now light came on and the computer said there were 4 codes:2 for the coolant sensor, 1 acceleration sensor, and 1 for lead exhaust?. the cleared the computer and 30min later the light came back on.
The car ran fine before all of this. now most of the time it will start right up, but when you turn it off sometimes it will not resart. and this morning i was stop at a light and it died. and would not restart. we have had to spray ether into the digital fuel injection and will fire right up and run fine. I spoke with the tech and he told me to check the fuel pressure, and use fuel injection cleaner. other than that he wasnt sure.
any ideas?

First you need to CLEAR the codes from the computer and then tell me which codes return.

Replace the oxygen sensor, Clean or replace the spark plugs if they look to be covered in a black soot material at the electrode end and clear the code and let me know what happens.

AnswerOK, If the E12 is back this is an indication of a wire fault in the distributor, a faulty HEI MODULE or a fault in the ECM (computer).
