Cadillac Repair: service engine light, climate control, bcm

Question
I bought a 1992 sedan deville with 185000 miles.
The service engine light was on and the code indicates throtle body service needed. How do I clear the codes and let the computer retest. The car had the throtle body service about four years ago and a new battery was installed about six mnts ago. Thanks for your help. Chuck

Answer
Hi Chuck,

4 years is a long time since a throttlebody service especially with all the miles that the car has. Maybe it really is time to do it again.

However in answer to you question about clearing codes this is what you need to do. Start the engine and press off and warmer on the climate control for about 4 seconds or until it goes into diagnostics and release the buttons. It will start out 888, codes and then 70. When it gets to 70 press off and hi fan and hold until E00 is displayed on the fuel data panel. Then off and low fan for the BCM or F codes. Turn the key off and the next time the key is turned the dash will be back to normal. Bill
