Question -
My 95 STS has started showing a "traction disable" message almost every time we drive. I am not intentionally slipping wheels by acceleration. Is this an expensive fix?

What mechanical work has been done lately ?. Brakes ?.  

Answer
On each brake caliper you will see a small wire loom with 2 wires inside of the loom. Check to make sure that they are securely plugged in at the fenderwells and are not damaged. Pull the connectors apart and re-insert them to make sure they are TIGHT fitting in the connector.
