Cadillac Repair: code 26,52, 1985 cadillac fleetwood, cadillac fleetwood

Hi  I have a 1985 cadillac fleetwood with codes 26 and 52    The car seems to idle very fast also
 any help on this...Thanks Tom

26 = shorted thrittle switch circuit.

52 = Battery was disconnected.


The 26 is the IDLE SPEED CONTROL MOTOR that controls the engine idle speed and is located on the right side of the throttle body when your standing in front of the vehicle.

Has ANYONE adjusted the threaded rod that comes out of the ISC motor or at the small set screw on the throttle body itself ?.


Go ahead and ERASE the codes and start the engine and see if the code 26 re-appears and let me know.

In most cases the fault is either:

The ISC motor.
Someone tried adjusting the idle speed.
someone tried adjusting the THROTTLE POSITIONING SENSOR (TPS) which is on the left side of the throttle body when standing in front of the car.


Let me know as there is a test procedure that we can do to check the ISC motor.
