Cadillac Repair: 1995 Cadillac Stalls after a 1/2 hour of driving, loose ground, car stalls

Question
Hi Ed, this car has been off and on over the last 5 years. The car stalls and I have to wait a few hours for it to sart.
I've had it to the dealer, other shops and my father who is a mechanic.
We have replaced the: Starter module, coil, plug wires, connections to the distributer which the plastic connecters had melted once and shorted out, the coil in the botom of the distributer, the computer...just about everything that is perscibed to aleviate the typical problems that exsist with this model. Of course the code that comes up is for the dist. period.
Time is running out for this car with only 90,000 miles on it.  It had not acted up for a while until the dealer replaced a blower moter.
Anything else you could give me I would appreciate, Thank You, Ron

Answer
Hi Ron

I assume this is the 4.9 liter B motor?i have seen many stall{we call phantom stall}due to a loose ground, this ground is located at the left side of the engine block rear of the starter motor, make sure that is clean and tight, also there have been issues with the fuel pump wiring inside the tank,i have seen the wiring at the intank fuel pump melted causing a loss of voltage when the pump is running and hot,you will need to remove the fuel tank, and then remove the fuel pump module and inspected the wiring,if in fact they are burned and lost connection the fuel pump module will need to be replaced, the harness comes as a kit with the new fuel pump module.
