Cadillac Repair: Cadillac starting problem, cadillac eldorado, electrical portion

Question
Hi, I have a 1989 Cadillac Eldorado and it won't start. When I try to start it the key won't turn all the way. I was told it was the ignition lock cylinder, I replaced it and it still won't start. What could it be? Thank you. BTW it all started when I couldn't get the key to turn back. I had to force it to the off position.

Answer
Your problem is most likely the electrical portion of the ignition switch which is located way down further on the steering column under the dash. There is a metal rod that attaches to the ignition switch where the key goes and the other end of the rod connects to the electrical portion of the ignition under the dash. There is most likely a fault in the electrical switch.
