Cadillac Repair: heating, climate control system, rodent damage

Question
I have 94 eldorado. when i turn on the climate control system, i can here a spark type sound then I get a hot electrical smell. the car had been sitting for three weeks outside, had no prior problems with the heat system.

Answer
Hi,Bill

A few things can cause this,i have found that the HVAC blower motor is failing and is causing the burned electrical smell,Cadillac has issued a new updated Blower motor to correct this, and the replacements are this new type of motor.
Also ive seen rodent damage, they like to chew/eat the wire insulation causing extensive damage and shorts in the electical sys,20-30 percent of my electrical shorts and repair is caused by rodent damage, open the hood, and take a look towards the back  at the firewall, you'll see the evap case/cover you will also see if looking to the left of the car right of the brake booster and master cyl is the blower motor, look at the wiring and look for signs of a rodent, footprints ,droppings, etc.let me know if you need more help,Thanks
