Chevrolet Repair: 1998 Chevy, oxygen sensors, oxygen sensor

Question
I have a 1998 K1500 4X4 with the 5.7. It has factory dual exhaust and cats. It shows the code P0146 for the O2 sensor on Bank 1 Sensor 3. How do I know which of the 4 sensors it is? Thanks, Mike

Answer
Bank 1 is the bank that the #1 cylinder is on. Bank 2 would be where the #2 cylinder is. So bank 1 on your vehicle is on the left (drivers side) of the engine.

Now starting at the engine the first oxygen sensor downstream would be "bank 1, sensor 1",. The next sensor downstream on the same bank would be "bank 1 - sensor 2" and so on.

I can't remember off hand but you should have 6 oxygen sensors on your vehicle. Two #1 sensors that are for engine control, Two #2 sensors for pre-cat, and two #3 sensors for post-cat.

I'm not 100% sure on that...every vehicle is different.
