Cadillac Repair: driver side mirror, adjustable mirror, mirror assembly

Question
Bill, do you happen to know how to replace the mirror.  Lawn mower threw a rock into it.

Answer
Hi John, I'm sorry about the last answer. I just couldn't resist because I am in a mischevous mood and you asked if I knew how to change it...not tell you how to change it if it were possable. LOL

Well heres the deal. Most Cadillacs that have an electric adjustable mirror the glass part can be changed without replaceing the whole mirror assembly. Just go to your dealer and order it or they might even have it in stock. It is held in place in the center and has 2 plastic adjuster studs. So what you do is push the glass to one side so you can get your fingers behind it and then pull it forward. You might want to wear gloves so you don't cut your fingers. The 2 studs will pull out of the motor and it will disengage from the center retainer. Be careful not to pull too hard because there are sometimes wires that attach to the back of the glass. Then to install it hook up any wires to the rear of the glass. Then snap the studs to the back of the glass and push the studs into the motor holes. Use a small wood block that will be alittle bit smaller that the glass, put the wood block on the mirror and push in the center until the glass snaps in place.

Let me know if you need anymore help. Bill
