Cadillac Repair: trunk lid openers, 1978 ford fairmont, ford fairmont

Got a nice 1978 ford fairmont I love....the trunk lid torsion rods are shot..... my solution: I would like to take the hydraulic lid lifter out of a seventies caddy and install it in my fairmont trunk. Any trick to wiring or the motor? Great at body work, bad at wiring...really appreciate your input..oreo from ct.

I worked on the 70's cadillac's and do not recall any ELECTRICally operated hydraulic openers. They are just plain hydraulic shocks that when you turn the key the lid opens by the shock expanding.

Where does the electric part come in ?.
