Mitsubishi: 97 MITSUBISHI GALANT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, mitsubishi galant, obd ii connector

I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Galant ES 2.4. One night my radio started to blink on and off. Next, the clock on the dash started to dim. It would get brighter as I drove longer. After a week the radio completely turned of as well as the clock and my interior dome light.All fuses are good. I also noticed that the electrical doors wont lock or unlock if the ignition is turned off. My idle became low soon after this problem.I also noticed that I dont have power to the obd II connector because I get nothing when I try to read trouble codes using two different code scanners. I tested the battery and alternator and they were good but I replaced both anyway and the problem persists. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Dave,

My first instinct was to tell you to take it to an auto electronics specialist and have them diagnose the short. But it looks like Mitsu has a TSB out for reprogramming the ECU. I would start there first. This usually will fix most weird problems like your experiencing. Let me know how this goes...
